Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 18. I will also offer conferences the week before on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings of that week from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The conference scheduler will be available for you to schedule conferences on Zangle beginning on Wednesday, February 3. Follow this link https://share.asdk12.org/support/conference-scheduler/SitePages/Home.aspx and it will take you to the scheduling page. When it gives you the options for grade level, choose mixed and my name should appear in the choices. If you are going on vacation and would like to schedule your conference before you leave, send me an email of the time you would like to meet and I can put it into the system before February 3. I love conference time and talking about your children and all the wonderful things they are doing.
On Friday, February 12 we will have a valentine exchange and snack in the afternoon. If your child wishes to participate in the exchange, he/she must bring a valentine for each student. I have provided a list of Room 177 names on the back of the newsletter.
This week the students have been studying measurement in math, prefixes, spelling, penmanship, problem solving in math, writing our own ways to be happy quotes, practicing math facts, reading, writing friendly letters, prepositions, journaling, geometry, reading comprehension and activities, researching for biography reports and more. It has been a busy and wonderful week!
This time of year students and adults often get the grumps or “cabin fever”. We have had several class discussions on talking and treating everyone with respect and in a pleasant tone. The students have been creating their own quotes about happiness to create a bulletin board. We have been practicing giving compliments to each other and have seen the mood change almost immediately. Finn’s grandmother shared a wonderful idea with the class about challenging us to do as many acts of kindness as possible. I have sent home copies of the “Acts of Kindness Checklist” in today’s folder and I encourage your child and family to participate weekly. Please return this form by next Friday. We will be discussing any changes in behavior we notice in others and ourselves. Thank you Mrs. Horning for this wonderful idea.
If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at moyer_craig@asdk12.org of call or write me a note.

Sincerely,

Craig Moyer
