Thursday, February 27, 2020 Dear Parents, Please join us tonight for the Denali Montessori Peace Concert from 6:00-8:00! There will be music, a cake auction and more as we raise funds for our sister school in Malawi, Africa. If you are able to contribute a dessert to the auction, please bring it tonight. Our class alone raised $46.40 to give our sister school for school supplies. Thanks for your support! After Spring Break, on Tuesday, March 17 we will again be walking to the Performing Arts Center to see Junior Theater present "Kattam and his Tam-Tams". We will leave about 11:00 and return about 1:15. Chaperones please meet in Room 177 by 10:50. This should be a fun time for the students with lots of singing, dancing, storytelling and movement. I hope you can join us for this event! Please return the permission slips by Thursday, March 5 due to the fact the trip is the Tuesday after Spring Break. Thanks! Please return permission slips and make a payment for our Whittier glacier cruise on Friday, May 15! We have made the 25% down payment and now need to pay the remainder of the funds to the now extended deadline of Friday, March 27. Please make these payments as soon as possible. Thanks! One more important event is our 3rd Grade Recognition Ceremony in which we send our 3rd graders with a big thank you and good luck in the future. I have scheduled this event for Thursday, May 14th at 1:00. 3rd grade parents please let me know if this date and time does not work for you as soon as possible. Please join us Thursday, March 5 from 6-8 p.m. for an evening with Montessori expert Anna Perry. She will be talking about "Montessori in the home." Thank you to the PTSA for your support bringing Ms. Perry for this presentation and the teacher presentation the following day! Dear Parents, Unfortunately I have had to cancel the field trip for Friday, February 28th. We don't have enough chaperones for the two classes that were going to attend, so we had to cancel. I appreciate all the support this year on the learning experiences and we will move on to our next trip on Tuesday, March 17. Thanks. Craig Moyer

Thursday, February 20, 2020 Dear Parents, Our next field trip is on Friday, February 28th. We will be walking to the start of the "Fur Rondy Sled Dog Races" on 4th Avenue to see the excitement. We will then visit the Alaska Public Lands Information Office for a movie and scavenger hunt! We will leave about 11:30 and return at about 2:00. As of this morning, I have only two chaperones. I need at least 2 more in order to go. If you are able to join us, please meet in Room 177 by 11:15 with warm gear and ready to cheer on the dogs! Thanks! Thursday, February 6, 2020 Dear Parents, One of my favorite times of the year is fast approaching! Conferences will be held Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11 from 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. and Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13 from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Students will be released at 12:30 p.m. on February 12 and 13 and there is no school on Friday, February 14 or Monday, February 17. The Conference Scheduler is now open. Scheduling early offers you the opportunity to secure conference times that work best for your family. Please visit the online scheduler on the district website. You will need to go to mix and find my name to find my schedule. If you are not able to use the online system, please call or email. I look forward to meeting with you all and celebrating your child's progress. On Tuesday, February 11 we will have a valentine exchange and small party in the afternoon. If your child wishes to participate in the exchange, he/she must bring a valentine for each student. I have provided a list of Room 177 names on the back of the newsletter.
