Thank you to all our chaperones that made the trip to “Alice in Wonderland” possible. The time of the trip was changed at the last minute due to plane troubles for the actors. I appreciate your flexibility and time. We can’t do these learning experiences without you.
Our next scheduled field trips are Friday, February 12, Friday, February 26 and the Monday after Spring Break on March 21. We will be taking a bus to West High on Friday, February 12 to see West High’s musical production of “The Little Mermaid” We will leave the school at about 9:20 and return at about noon. On Friday, February 26 we will walk to the Alaska Public Lands Information Office on 4th Avenue and do a scavenger hunt and watch a film on Alaska animals. Afterward we will watch the start of the Fur Rondy Sled Dog Championship race on 4th Avenue. We will leave at about 9:30 and return at about 12:30. On Monday, March 21 we will be walking to the Performing Arts Center to see Junior Theater’s “Dino –Light: A Glow-In-The-Dark Adventure”. We will leave the school at about 11:15 and should return by about 1:30. I will send permission slips home as these trips approach.
Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 18. I will also offer conferences the week before on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings of that week from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The conference scheduler will be available for you to schedule conferences on Zangle beginning on Wednesday, February 3. Follow this link https://share.asdk12.org/support/conference-scheduler/SitePages/Home.aspx and it will take you to the scheduling page. When it gives you the options for grade level, choose mixed and my name should appear in the choices. If you have any troubles, please email me and I can enter a time for you. If you can’t find a time that fits your schedule, please let me know and we can arrange an alternate time. I love conference time and talking about your children and all the wonderful things they are doing.
On Friday, February 12 we will have a valentine exchange and snack in the afternoon. If your child wishes to participate in the exchange, he/she must bring a valentine for each student. I have provided a list of Room 177 names on the back of the newsletter.
This week the students have been introduced to the continent of Australia. We will be studying its animals, culture, land and water forms, and people in the next couple of weeks. If you have any artifacts, pictures or experiences you would like to share with the class, please let me know. We have also been studying prefixes, spelling, penmanship, reading graphs in math, practicing math facts, reading, writing friendly letters, prepositions, journaling, geometry, reading comprehension and activities and more. It has been a busy and wonderful week!
Thank you to Mrs. Hollingsworth for the lesson on dental health. We learned about the parts of the tooth and the importance of brushing, flossing, and eating healthy foods that help protect our teeth. She also gave each student a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a flosser. Thank you for your time and expertise!
If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at moyer_craig@asdk12.org of call or write me a note.
