Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we will be driving to West High to see a dance performance created for Anchorage’s Centennial. We will leave the school at 9:15 and return at about 11:45. Chaperones please meet in Room 177 by 9:00. Friday, May 8 we will be going to the Alaska Native Heritage Center for a free preview day. The bus will leave at 9:20 and return at 1:30 that day. Students will need to bring their own lunch unless they have ordered one from the cafeteria. Chaperones please meet in Room 177 by 9:00. Thursday, May 14 we will be going to West High Pool to participate in the Kids Don’t Float program. We’ll leave at 12:30 and return at 2:30. On Tuesday, May 19 is the annual Primary Wing picnic at Valley of the Moon Park. We will barbecue hot dogs, play games and enjoy a nice 70-degree cloudless Anchorage day. (I hope). One more important event will be the 3rd Grade Recognition ceremony, we have to say good-bye to our third graders and wish them well as they move on to fourth grade.  The ceremony will be on Thursday, May 7 at 2:15 p.m.
The Denali Montessori Gala will be at the Anchorage Museum on Friday, May 8. We will be auctioning baskets that evening to raise funds for our Montessori program. Our class has been assigned to gather items for a basket to be auctioned. Our basket theme is “Movie Night”. If you would like to help build our basket by sending in movie themed items such as DVDs, popcorn, a popcorn maker, movie treats, or anything else related, we would really appreciate it. Please send those items in by Monday, May 4. Thanks for your support!
This week the students have been reviewing grammar by playing Mad Libs, penmanship, math facts and operations, reviewing math concepts, experimenting with water surface tension, writing about their summer plans, and more. I’ve been impressed with all the independent work going on in the classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at moyer_craig@asdk12.org or call or write me a note.

Sincerely,

Craig Moyer
