Dear Parents,
Tonight is the Denali Peace Concert! Please join us from
6:30-8:00 for music, a cake auction, information about our sister school in
Malawi, and more. It should be a great evening for a great cause!
Here is a list of our scheduled field trips at this time. On
Thursday, April 20 we will be walking to The Performing Arts Center to see
Alaska Junior Theater’s “The Tree and the Donkey Who Could Sing” from
9:30-11:45. Chaperones please meet in Room 177 by 9:00. Friday,
April 28 we will walk to the Pioneer School House for a tour from 12:30-3:00.
Friday, May 5 we will need drivers to take us to Bartlett High School for
orienteering from 11:30-1:30. Tuesday, May 23 we will be taking a bus to the
Eagle River Nature Center to take a hike and have a picnic lunch on the river
in what should be about perfect weather at 75 degrees and sunny. (I’m
optimistic) The last day of school, Wednesday, May 24 we will have our annual
Primary Wing Barbecue at Valley of the Moon Park from 10:00-2:30. This will be a
walking field trip. Put these dates on your calendar and we would love to have
you join us if possible. I have sent home the permission slip (purple) for the
Junior Theater trip in the last two week’s folder and today's, the permission
slip (blue) for the Pioneer School House in last week’s and today’s and I am
sending the permission slip (green) for the orienteering field trip to Bartlett
on May 5 in today's folder. Please return these permission slips as soon as
possible. I will not make phone calls to get permission for any of the field
trips. I will send up to 3 permission slips home with a child. It is the child
and parents’ responsibility to return them. We have enough chaperones for the
next week, but I have only one confirmed chaperone for our trip to the Pioneer
School House on the 28th.
One more important event is our 3rd Grade
Recognition Ceremony in which we send our 3rdgraders with a big
thank you and good luck in the future. This event scheduled for Friday, May 12
at 11:15. 3rd grade parents please let me know if this date and
time does not work for you as soon as possible.
The students and I are battling a tough case of “Spring Fever”
with all this beautiful weather, but they have been engaging in a nice work
cycle this week and I am enjoying working with them. We have been studying
numbers and operations, math operations and facts, grammar, writing, spelling,
writing friendly letters, predators and prey, ecosystems, adaptations, animal
and continent research, and more. It’s been a great week!
If
you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at moyer_craig@asdk12.org or
call or write me a note.
Sincerely,
Craig Moyer
